			<description><![CDATA[I just bought a used 2008 Acura TL with 26,000. This is my first Acura and I must say I'm loving the car. It's polished metal metallic! The car now has 34,000 miles on and I've done the regular oil changes on time. I always put premiun unleaded gasoline and do not drive the car hard at all, rarely do I go over 75 unless on freeways. I want to maintain the car meticulously, so I have a few questions. How often should I replace the spark plugs, air filter, cabin air filter, and how many quarts of oil does the car take?<br />
<br />
I also wanted to ask if it would be okay if I switch from normal oil to full synthetic oil if I change it myself? Will this void any dealer warranty at all?]]></description>

All that’s about to change, however,  with the introduction of the new 2011 Ford Mustang, which comes onto the market this spring with a sophisticated 3.7-liter V-6 engine. The new mill is rated at 305 horsepower and makes history as the first car ever with more than 300 horsepower and a fuel economy in excess of 30 mpg. In this case, the 2011 Ford Mustang delivers an EPA-rated fuel economy of 19 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway when equipped with the available six-speed automatic transmission. The standard six-speed manual transmission is rated at 29 mpg on the highway and 19 mpg in the city.<br />

By comparison, the similarly powerful Chevrolet Camaro V-6 returns a fuel economy of 18 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway, while the Dodge Challenger gets by with 18 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway.<br />

The excellent fuel economy numbers are achieved with variable control of the engine’s valve operation right across the rev range. The 3.7-liter unit’s variable cams operate on Ford's new Direct Acting Mechanical Bucket (DAMB) valvetrain using polished buckets and roller finger followers to reduce friction. The end result is as much as a three percent improvement in fuel economy and a ten percent improvement in power output versus traditional engines without these advanced features. Furthermore, a cold air induction system and dual exhaust give the advanced powerplant its free-breathing feel, 7,000 rpm redline and near-instantaneous response to throttle inputs.<br />

			<description><![CDATA[The automotive world striving for smaller, more efficient engines in a bid to be seen as environmentally-conscious and attract customers, scientists and engineers are coming out of the woodwork with new combustion engines, electric powertrains and other systems that they tout as the future of automotive technology - just this month we already saw EcoMotors' opposed-piston opposed-cylinders project that promised to revolutionize engine design.Now, an engineering firm by the name of Ilmor has announced its own new redesign of the internal-combustion engine, with claims that efficiency gains of between 5% and 20% can be had. What makes us actually sit up and take notice of Ilmor's claims is the company's history, having built Formula 1-winning engines for Mercedes-Benz and working with a number of Indy car teams for over a decade to build engines - not exactly amateurs, then.<br />

The new, more efficient engine Ilmor is proposing promises to deliver the fuel economy that current diesel engines can achieve, without the associated emissions problems the oil-burners typically offer. Designed for road cars, rather than its usual work with racing applications, the Ilmor-designed 5-stroke gasoline engine is a diminutive 700cc three-cylinder unit that still manages to develop 130 horsepower and 122 pound-feet of torque.According to Ilmor, the 5-stroke concept engine utilizes two high-pressure fired cylinders operating on a conventional 4-stroke cycle that alternately exhaust into a central low-pressure expansion cylinder, whereupon the burnt gases perform further work. The low-pressure cylinder decouples the expansion and compression processes and enables the optimum expansion ratio to be selected independently of the compression ratio.<br />

The end result is that the engine runs an overall expansion ratio approaching that of a diesel engine – in the region of 14.5:1. The engine is also more compact, and unlike other new technologies does not require any new manufacturing techniques. The engine is just a concept for now, with further development expected to take place. First of all wanted to say what a great forum, have been getting lots of answers from it recently!<br />

A very easy question I'm sure, but....<br />

I have a mg-rover 2001 Diesel R75, and am missing part of the wheel arch on the Passenger side.<br />
<br />
It's the bit below the Headlamp Inspection Panel, but I'm not sure what it's called?<br />
<br />
Could anyone please point me in the right direction?<br />

			<title><![CDATA[How to check the engine oil]]></title>

			<description><![CDATA[Park your car on level ground and turn the ignition off. Wait a while so that the engine oil drains into the oil pan. Remove the engine oil dipstick. If you don't know where the dipstick is, go through your owner's manual - it will show you where to find it. The dipstick usually has a bright handle saying "engine oil". Wipe it with a clean rag or tissue. Then put it back all the way down into its place.<br />
<br />
Now, pull the dipstick again and check the oil level. It should be at the "FULL" mark. It isn’t a big problem if it's a bit lower than the ‘Full’ mark, but top it up anyway. If the oil is black and opaque, it's definitely time to change it. If it's slightly brown, it'll do. If it's dark-brown, but still transparent, it's admissible but it will need to be changed soon; the sooner the better.<br />
<br />
If the oil is white (the colour of coffee with milk,) it means that the engine coolant is mixing with the engine oil. This indicates an internal engine problem, for example, a blown head gasket - have your car checked at authorized service center.]]></description>
